From Photography to Fantasy—
: Art in Lines and Colors
Photography captures real moments, which I paint over with strokes and colors to stimulate the viewer’s imagination. My artistic career began in 1965 at the Gymnasium Icking, characterized by precision craftsmanship and creative explorations with different materials. Study trips to London, Paris, San Francisco and Chicago deepened my understanding of art and craft.

In my art, I deal with traces of time, transience and the stories that surround us. I find my motifs in everyday places, structures and surfaces – in walls, streets, faces, light and shadow or even while cooking. New visual worlds between reality and imagination are created from photographs and their editing.
I am interested in the beauty in the inconspicuous, the aged and the accidental. My works tell of memory, change, life and the many invisible stories that are hidden everywhere.
Art in a spatial context
My works are created over many years in different series, techniques and themes. The exhibitions include selected works from these series, which allow my art to be experienced in a spatial context. New connections between the images, themes and stories are constantly emerging. For me, art is constantly evolving and exhibitions and series of works also change over time.
